Dream: Chapter 2 - Electricity

Sat Apr 4, 2009, 4:17 PM
Reika's Home - Tokyo, Japan

That night, Reika had another dream. Though, this one wasn't as vivid as the one she had had before. Reika was in a dark room, with a very small light source. She could make out a few objects around her, they seemed like lockers. It seems as though the source was coming from the ceiling. She started to walk, she didn't know where she was going but she just decided to walk. Reika kept her hand trailing the lockers, she felt assured somehow. The area around her started to fuzz a little, like a TV losing it's signal. Reika focused a bit harder, trying to keep her dream clear. It wasn't working, the area around her including the light source fuzzed even more. She started to realize that this dream might be one of the 'special' ones so she focused even harder. Her effort had been wasted, the light source had gone black. All around her, suddenly became total darkness. A lighting bolt symbol started to flare up then flicker right front of her, glimmering bright yellow. She reached for it, but it flickered away and her alarm had woken her. Reika sat up right for a moment then said, "Gee...why do I keep getting these weird dreams?" She rubbed her eyes, yawned and began her morning with a shower. Thinking.

Ayumi sat there in Social Studies class playing with her playing cards. Carefully trying to build a tower.

"Hey, put those away before you get in trouble." Reika warned Ayumi. "Shh, hold on. Lemme just put this on top..."

"Ms. Kato. You know what I feel about you playing with those cards during class." said Mr. Santeru.

"Ok ok, lemme put them away."

The teacher resumed his teaching, "The Battle of Bunker Hill..." He was interrupted when the room had suddenly became black. You could hear a bunch of girls screaming near the back of the room.

Mr. Santeru had a puzzled look on his face, he scratched his head then said, "Class, calm down now, let me go check with the other teachers to see what happened."

Ayumi pulled out her cards again and tried to build another tower with the very little light that came through the window. She wasn't bothered by Reika telling her to put the cards away again so she turned to asked her why. The moment she turned, she saw a face on Reika that looked like she had just seen a ghost.

"Reika? Are you OK?" she asked.

"This...this is...this is just like..." Reika trailed off.

"Just like what?" Ayumi started to worry a little.

"This is just like the dream I had."

Ayumi's eyes got big. "Oh no."

Mr. Santeru walked into the room. "It seems as though this problem is city-wide, the power company is working to fix this. We can't work in this light so head into the halls where there's some emergency lights. Your next class' teacher will give you further instructions."

The entire class went out into the hallway. Kaze cleared his throat and began to talk, "Ok, this is the first time that this has happened to our school. Your next class, err rather, special is lunch which is in one hour. You can go anywhere in this campus, without disturbing other classes. I know staying at school while it has no power is fun, but try to be safe, the hallways and most rooms will have the emergency lights on, they're not as bright, but they work." A bunch of boys yelled out, "Woohoo!" The girls rolled there eyes and decided to walk n' talk around the campus.

Ayumi and Reika started off walking to the south end of the school looking for their new friends they had made yesterday. "Wait, so you had a dream that this would happen?" asked Ayumi.

"Well, not exactly. But it was all dark and I saw this lighting sign thing in front of me." she said.

Ayumi put her finger on her lips and thought for a moment. "Well, this dream wasn't as clear as the other one, now was it?"

"Yea, my dreams are stating to become more difficult to make sense of now..." Reika looked at the ground.

"Really? How many of these...uhm, special dreams have you had?"

"I've had three, including the one I just told you." Reika said.

"Three? You've only told be two of them." Ayumi said while pulling one playing card from her pocket.

"Well, you know how we met those fresh-mans during lunch?"

Ayumi replied, "Yea..."

"I had a dream about meeting them too, it wasn't really clear, but I managed to figure it out."

"Hey! Are we having burritos for lunch?" Ayano jerked in.

"Ayano and her burritos, ya' can't seperate them." said Hiro.

"Ah hey guys!" said Ayumi.

Reika let out a soft "hello" and the four started to walk in the same direction. "This power-outage at school is kinda cool, eh?" Ayano asked.

Hiro said, "Kinda cool? Psh, this is awesome!"

Ayano looked at Reika and saw that her face wasn't in a happy mood. She questioned her, "Hey...did, did you have a dream again, Reika?"

Reika looked up from the floor. "Yea, how did you know?"

"Well, you have that stressed look on your face. I have to tell you something too."

"What?" Reika looked straight into Ayano's eyes.

"I've been having these dreams too. It creeps me out a bit."

"Woah! You guys must have super powers or something..." said Hiro. "This is like in one of those dramatic TV shows, where you guys find out that you have powers, and then you go seek answers by going on an adventure."

Ayano put her hand on Hiro's shoulders, "Hiro, you have quite the imagination."

Hiro swiped her hand off, "It's true! We must go on an adventure to find answers to this!"

Reika and Ayano rolled their eyes. Ayumi started to talk, "You know, Hiro might be right. I mean, you just don't have dreams that can predict the future. Well, you can, but not very often like this." Ayumi pulled at two cards from her pocket, she looked at them. They were a four of spades and a five of hearts.

"Hey! Reika!" Akiyo yelled from a distance. He came running from soccer practice. When he got to the group, he bent down and put his hands on his knees. "H-h-...hold on a second...lemme...c-catch my breath."

Reika asked, "Are you gonna be OK?"

"Yea..., I just wanted to tell you..." said Akiyo between breaths of air.

"Yea?" Reika asked.

Akiyo put one finger up, "I made the soccer team this year!

The four said, "Congrats!" in succession with excited faces and patted him on the back.

Akiyo fell from the weight of their hands and passed out on the ground. Hiro and Ayano pulled him up and started to walk him to the nurse's office. "We'll take care of him, you two go get your lunches and save me some burritos." said Ayano.

As they walked him away, Ayumi noticed the numbers on Akiyo's soccer jersey. "Hey, Reika. Look at the numbers on his jersey."

"Alright...uhm, fourty-five." said Reika a bit confused.

"Yea..." said Ayumi.

"What about them?" asked Reika.

Ayumi held up her two cards, "Look at the numbers on my cards."

Reika looked at the two playing cards and said, "A four of spades and a five of hearts...four and five...fourty-five. Hey, isn't that the number on his jersey?"

Dream: Chapter 1 - Burritos

Sat Apr 4, 2009, 4:15 PM
Shibuya High School - Lunch Room

"Are you going to eat that burrito?" asked Ayano.

"Well, what do you think? It's halfway in my mouth." said Hiro with a muffled voice.

"Well, can I have half of it?" she asked. Hiro started to chew faster.

"Heh heh, hey fresh-mans. Mind if we sit with you?" asked Ayumi.

"Well, sure, but only if Hiro over here agrees too."

"Yea, you can sit here." said Hiro blushing a bit.

"Hey! Do you want your burritos?" asked Ayano eagerly.

"Uhm, yea...sure." replied Reika.

"Hey...Reika, what's wrong?" Ayumi asked with care. "Hmm, I know, you're still shocked about how you guessed that number, huh?"

"Yea..." Reika started to pick at her salad with her fork.

"Hmm, I think it would help if we talked about it?" Ayumi started to be optimistic.

"What happened 'ere?" questioned Ayano stuffing Reika's burrito in her mouth.

"Someone's being a fattie." said Hiro giving her the look.

"Hey! For your information, I weigh 120 pounds and have a slim body!"

Hiro ignored and asked Reika and Ayumi and question. "You know, I never got your names. What grade are you guys in?"

Ayumi put her hands on her hips, "I'm a Sophomore and my name is...Ayumi!"

Reika realized that the lettuce in her salad were getting enough torture, she looked up. "I'm Reika, and I'm a sophomore like Ayu."

Hiro started, "Well cool, my name is---"

Ayano interrupted, "Well hello! I'm Ayano, and this here is Hiro, we're both fresh-mans and best friends." Ayano gave Hiro a tight hug.

"Argh, yes..we're, we're best friends." said Hiro stuggling under Ayano's hug. The bell rang, that meant that lunch time was over. Ayano managed to steal another burrito from the cafeteria before heading for her next class.

The entire school's next class was not really a class. The students were given one hour to do what-ever they wanted, as long as they stayed in the campus' perimeter. The four were still together, so they decided to head for the gym. Along the way, Ayumi realized that Reika never really got a chance to finish what she was saying.

"Reika." said Ayumi. "Back to what we were discussing...supposedly."

"Alright."

"So how did you figure out his number?"

"What number?" Hiro jumped in.

"Hiro, stop interrupting people." said Ayumi.

Reika started to talk. "Uhm, well...you see. I had...I had this dream."

"A dream?" Ayano said looking interested.

"Yea, I was in this weird place. Then I saw something bright on a wall."

"You've been watching too many sci-fi movies haven't you, Reika?" said Ayumi.

"Heh, looks like you're the one jumping into people's sentences now." said Hiro.

"Awe shush, Hiro."

"Yea, anyway. I saw the number on the wall, and also on the clock." Reika continued with her story on how she figured out Mr. Oriko's number.

"Whoa...you're amazing." said Hiro with awe. Everyone started to stare at Hiro. "What? Oh. No no! That's not what I mean."

Ayano blurted out, "You like her!"

"You know what Ayano, you're a bit of a pain to be around sometimes." Hiro said crossing his arms.

"Hey, loosen up, I was only joking around." They hadn't realized it, but one hour had already passed and the bell rang once again for their next class period. They gave their goodbyes. Reika and Ayumi headed towards the northern end of the school while Hiro and Ayano went in the opposite direction. Reika, still daised, kept wondering about her dream.

"Hey, Hiro."

"Yeah, Aya?"

"You know how Mr. Oriko asked us the same question, as he did for Ayumi and Reika?" said Ayano.

"Yea...what about it? Hey, you answered it correctly too." said Hiro.

"Yea...I did." Ayano stared at the ground.

"How'd you do it?" Ayano stopped walking for a moment. Hiro turned around. She looked up.

"I had a dream too."

Character Portraits for Dream

Sun Feb 22, 2009, 1:51 PM
If you've read my previous journal entries, you'll notice that I've started writing a story. I'd like to take my story to some next level and have pictures to go with them. If you like to draw, or want a challenge, I would like to request portraits for my characters. (^-^)

Dream: The Prologue

Sun Feb 22, 2009, 1:22 PM
Shibuya High School - Tokyo, Japan

Reika put her hand in front of her head as the Sun struck threw the window. "Alright class, before you leave for your next period. I'll leave you with a question for you to ponder." The teacher said. "More numbers." Akiyo let out with a sigh. Mr. Oriko replied, "You'll grow up to love numbers one day. Ok, my question is, I'm a number between one and one-thousand. What number am I?" Akiyo quickly said, "Are you serious? How are we supposed to figure that out?" "I'll be expecting an answer tomorrow morning." The bell rang before Akiyo could give another argument. "Gee. That was a bit stupid, eh Reika?" said Akyio while nudging Reika in the shoulders. "Uhm, yea...I guess." replied Reika. Akiyo felt embarrassed and quickly walked to his locker. "I think he likes you, Reika." Ayumi judged. "Oh really now? What makes you think that?" snapped Reika. "I have powers." replied Ayumi. "Right." said Reika longly.

It was 10:00PM, night had sworn in. Reika was laying in her bed, the moon's light gently flowing into her room through the over-sized window. She pondered (as the teacher said they would do) about the question. "A number between one and one-thousand..." she repeated over and over. Slowly, but surely, she feel asleep. She dreamed. Reika was suddenly in a building. A very large one for a fact, she quickly assumed that she was in the lobby. There was no one there, the light had gone down outside, the moon shown through the giant-like windows above her. Reika scanned her surroundings, trying to figure out where she was. As she turned her head, her eyes caught something bright behind the counter, on a wall. It was glowing, as if calling out to her. Being the curious kind, she quickly ran to the wall and jumped over the counter. The bright thing that was glowing turned out to be writing. "405." she whispered. "Why is there a number here?" She noticed that there was a clock in the building right above her. Reika stepped back in order to read it. It read, "4:05am." "That's odd, isn't that the number on the wa--." Reika's head jerked up from her pillow as the alarm rang. "405..." She repeated. "405..."

"Good morning class." said Mr. Oriko with great cheer. "Now, you all know what I want from you. The answer to my question." A few kids sighed and one raised his hand. "May I go use the restroom?" "No." The teacher replied. "My number is between one and one-thousand, what is my number? Anyone?" Reika suddenly remembered her dream. She didn't know if that was the number, but she decided to give it a try. She rose her hand. "Yes, Ms. Nomura?" Reika cleared her throat. "Uhm...I-I think your number is..." She paused for a moment. "My number is...?" said Mr. Oriko rolling his left hand while adjusting his spectacles. "405." "By jove! That's my number!" said the teacher with great excitement. Reika was shocked.

Dream: The Characters

Sun Feb 22, 2009, 1:21 PM
I've decided to write a whole story, titled "Dream". This post will introduce you to the characters that are involved in this story, their varying personalities and a little info on The characters are made up by me, and are a bit influenced by some other stories and video games.

Characters

Reika Nōmura: The main character in this story. She is a straight "A" student, and tends to study often and hang out with her friends. Reika masters in martial arts using her fists and feet as weapons. Though, she tends to keep that in secret from everyone around her, until something bad happens. All goes well for her. Until one day, she had a dream... (Age 16)

Ayumi Katō: Reika's best friend. They've known each other since 1st-Grade. Ayumi's the computer freak. She knew how to code in CSS and HTML when she hit the age of 8. Ayumi created the first virus that was able to hack into the government's network. Of course, being the patriot she is, she never used it. She named her virus, "The Kato Project". Project Kato was never used...until some people heard about it. She helps as an assistant programmer over at Shibuya 405 in her spare time. (Age 15)

Akiyō Innes: The secondary character. He tends to get straight "C"'s. Though, that isn't entirely his fault. Aside from not willing to study, he has a soft side for Reika. If you know what I mean. You don't? Let me explain. Naturally, a good student will pay attention to the white board when the teacher is teaching. All of Akiyo's class periods includes Reika sitting right in front of him. (Yes, this high school still has seating charts.) When a teacher asks Akiyo a question, he simply ignores, and stares straight in front of him. You get it now? Eh? Eh? Hehe. (Age 16)

Midori Innes: Akiyo's younger sister. Ever since their parents were killed when they were just five years of age, Midori hasn't been too content around others besides her older brother. She's grateful for him, yet not so grateful. Right before Miku, their mother, died. She whispered something into Akiyo's ears. Ever since, Akiyo's always been over-protective over Midori. (Age 12)

Hirō Suzuki: The male nerd in this story. He's pretty fun and laid back, but very serious when it comes to defending his friends and following destiny. Hiro believes that everything happens for a reason. His dad, Kaito owns the high-tech company known as, "Shibuya 405". (Age 14)

Ayanō Nakamura: Hiro's best friend. She and Hiro helped her dad design the car of the future. It was able to talk, give the driver feedback and was environmentally friendly. Ayano has an obsession over music, singing whenever she can. Most of the time, you'll see her with headphones on, jamming away. (Age 13)
